BLANKETS & THROWS

On this page you will find some of our handmade blankets.  

We use the term blanket in the description as each item comprises only two layers.  The front of each blanket has been pieced together in a patchwork design whilst the blankets have been backed with one of 4 fabrics - Polyester Micro Fleece, Polyester Polar Fleece, Polyester Cuddlesoft Plush fabric or Shannon Minky Plush fabric.  These provide softness and warmth without the weight of a quilt.

Traditionally quilts comprise three layers of fabric - a cotton topper, choice of wadding and a cotton backing and are often described as "Heirloom Quilts".  These are then stitched and quilted in a variety of styles to keep the layers together.  Owing to their composition it is often recommended that these quilts are either dry cleaned or hand-washed and allowed to air dry on a flat surface.

As modern life is busy, these blankets offer the "look" of a quilt but are easier to care for.  All KaLou Crafty Creations blankets have been pre-washed and dried to ensure that the Care Instructions are accurate.  

Please check individual descriptions carefully as there are variations.  However, in general terms, most blankets can be machine washed on a delicate wash (to accommodate the mix of fabrics used), and dried outside on a washing line, on an airer or even dried in a tumble drier on a cool setting.

Please allow up to 48 hours for a response.  We check our messages daily wherever possible, but occasionally there are delays when we are off site attending Craft Fayres and other Events.
